~CLASSICAL YOGA HINDU ACADEMY~

DHARMA YOGA ASHRAM

~Striving to provide a complete study and experience of the religious/spiritual path in general as well as the specific path of Classical Yoga/Sanatana Dharma/Hinduism.~

The Classical Yoga Hindu Academy is a non-profit Hindu/Yoga religious organization dedicated to offering the highest quality in spiritual/Yogic/Hindu teaching. The mission of the Academy is to, first and foremost, cultivate the Spiritual Reality that is within everyone; to learn about the many spiritual/religious paths; to learn about the path of Classical Yoga/Hinduism (Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Raja Yoga and Jnana Yoga); to hold Satsang and provide Hindu worship services (puja); to build the Academy and Temple; to offer correspondence courses; to publish books as well as audio and visual presentations related to Classical Yoga/Hinduism. The Academy is open to everyone and each is free to follow their own pace absorbing only that which is comfortable and meaningful to them. Your help to carry on the mission of the Academy in the form of donations (fully tax deductible), prayers, insights and through other creative outlets is most welcome!

~HISTORY~

CYHA was founded in 1999 through Swami Param (Paramswami). Swamiji is President and principle teacher of the Academy.

CYHA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit Hindu/Yoga religious organization. President: Swami Param Trustees: Yati Deva Sivam and Mrs. Pratima Balkaran

~PURPOSE~

The purpose of the Academy (from the Mission Statement) is to, first and foremost, cultivate the Spiritual Reality that is within everyone, taking into account all aspects of one's being; to also learn about the many spiritual/religious paths; to learn of the similarities and differences within these paths; to learn and live the Classical Yogic lifestyle; i.e., Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Raja Yoga and Jnana Yoga; to further learn about Sanatan Dharma also known as Hinduism; to hold Satsang and provide Hindu worship services (puja); to build the Academy and Hindu Temple; to offer correspondence courses; to publish books as well as audio and visual presentations and other related items.

~CLASSES~

Group instruction at the:

Stafford Community Center, Mill Creek Rd.
Manahawkin, NJ

At 9:15 every Sunday morning, there is also a "Stretch And Relaxation" class. $10 per person. The purpose of S.A.R. is to demonstrate the important difference between mere exericse and genuine Hindu Hatha Yoga. The purpose of S.A.R. is to also help clarify the "new-age" misconception that one can be "spiritual but not religious," when in truth, one is Spiritual And Religious. S.A.R. is based on Hatha Yoga and is for those who simply desire stretching and relaxation. This class also provides a good introduction into the more indepth Hatha Yoga or worshipful postures of the Hindu Faith.

At 8 a.m. every Sunday morning, we have group Hatha Yoga. All Hatha Yoga students must take at least one S.A.R. class. True to all spiritual/religious teachings, there is no charge for Hatha Yoga. Donations are appropriate for all genuine spritiual/religious and in this case Hindu/Yoga classes. A donation does not mean the class is worth less but actually more. Donation is also appropriate so that true spiritual/religious (Hindu/Yogic) teachings are always "affordable" to all.

ASHRAM RULES

THE FOLLOWING RULES MUST BE ADHERED TO BY ALL:

ONE MUST PHONE AHEAD AND MAKE RESERVATIONS FOR ANY ACTIVITY (space is limited).

COME TO CLASS ON TIME.

NO SHOES INSIDE.

RESPECT THE NEIGHBORS, COME AND GO IN A PEACEFUL MANNER.

THERE IS ENOUGH PARKING AROUND THE CONFINES OF THE ASHRAM. DO NOT PARK IN FRONT OF A NEIGHBOR'S HOUSE.

NO ACTIVE CELL PHONES.

NO TIGHT FITTING, REVEALING ATTIRE; IN OTHER WORDS, COMFORTABLE, CONSERVATIVE CLOTHING. CONSERVATIVE SHORTS ARE OK, NO MUSCLE SHIRTS, ETC. THE POINT IS TO KEEP A SPIRITUAL (INCORPOREAL) ATMOSPHERE AND AVOID OVER DISPLAYING THE PHYSICAL BODY.

REMEMBER, THIS IS REAL YOGA/HINDUISM. NO PHONY YOGA, YOGA TEACHERS ARE ALLOWED. HOWEVER, IF ONE REALIZES THEY HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN THIS VERY INSULTING PRACTICE AND THEY NOW WISH TO LEARN REAL YOGA, THEY ARE WELCOME.

SINCE THESE ARE RELIGIOUS/SPIRITUAL TEACHINGS AND PRACTICES, THEY ARE OPEN TO VIRTUOUS SINGLES AND THOSE IN A COMMITTED MONOGAMOUS RELATIONSHIP.

TRUE TO ALL GENUINE RELIGIOUS/SPIRITUAL TEACHINGS (AND IN THIS CASE HINDUISM), ALL CLASSES ARE OFFERED ON A DONATION BASIS. THE PURPOSE OF THIS PROFOUND RELIGIOUS/SPIRITUAL PROCESS IS:

1. TO NOT TURN SOMETHING SACRED INTO A BUSINESS.

2. SO THAT EVERYONE MAY ATTEND REGARDLESS OF INCOME.

3. RECOGNIZING THAT NO PRICE CAN BE PUT ON SUCH PROFOUND TEACHINGS AND PRACTICES. HOWEVER, IT IS IMPORTANT FOR ONE TO REALIZE THAT DONATION DOES NOT MEAN SIMPLY GIVING A DOLLAR OR TWO (OR NOTHING). ONE HAS TO REALIZE THAT THE TEACHINGS ARE ACTUALLY WORTH MORE THAN ONE COULD AFFORD, AND THEREFORE, ONE OFFERS A SUITABLE OFFERING CONSIDERING THEIR MEANS.

The more devoted student may also be interviewed to commence personal (weekly) instruction with Swami Param. There are three progressive courses that the student may choose to follow. Each course takes a minimum of one-to-two years to complete.

In the first course, The Eternal Journey: A Guide To Enlightenment, the student gains the all-important spiritual/religious foundation in general as well as a solid understanding of the Hindu religion and its many Yoga practices. The student learns all about Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Raja Yoga and Jnana Yoga. This course could be likened to the High School experience.

In the second course, Sanatana Dharma/Hinduism: The Religion of Yoga, the student advances to the University level and obtains a detailed knowledge (along with the all-important spiritual/religious experiences) of the Hindu/Yogic religion. (During or after this course, those who are not Hindus and desire to become Hindus are given this most blessed opportunity. At this point, one may also be given the opportunity to teach, at a beginning level, various aspects of Hinduism/Yoga.)

The third course is a Master's Degree in the Yoga Sutras and is only open to members of the Hindu religion. The Hindu chela is led sutra-by-sutra into the knowledge and experience of the Yoga Darsana.

*Of course since all aspects of Yoga/Hinduism are spiritual, there is no charge for Hindu/Yoga classes or courses–this is an essential element to the spirit of all authentic spiritual teachings. Your tax-deductible Donations are welcome–this is how all true spiritual/religious traditions continue their public service.

*CORRESPONDENCE COURSE*

Since not all students are able to study intimately, Swami offers a correspondence course which provides the student with a thorough grounding in understanding and experiencing spiritual/religious life in general as well as the specific path of Classical Yoga/Hinduism. This course will provide you will a solid wisdom that will bring about a positive change in one's lifestyle as well as enabling one to feel comfortable discussing the profound topics of spirituality/religion/yoga/mysticism/Hinduism.

*Learn the essence of spirituality/religion.
*Learn something about the many religions of the world.
*Learn about the many aspects of Yoga/Hinduism.
*An indepth study of Hatha Yoga asanas.
*Learn about Kundalini Yoga and the Chakras.

*Learn mystical "secrets."
*and much more....

Subsequent to graduating from the correspondence course (approx. two years) or personal instruction, the student may go on into a more indepth study of Sanatana Dharma/Hinduism--the religion of Classical Yoga. Instruction into formally becoming a member of the Hindu religion is also available. These basic prerequisites are necessary for anyone who entertains the idea of ever becoming a genuine teacher of any aspect of Yoga.

Please write or e-mail for information on qualifying for admission.

The Correspondence Course has changed my life. It has helped me to better understand religion and the spiritual path. It has really helped me to be more loving and accepting of others.
Betty–Michigan

As a born Hindu, studying the Classical Yoga/Hinduism Correspondence Course has finally helped me to understand the religion into which I was born. I would recommend this course for anyone who wants to know what truly is Yoga.
