~THE ASHRAM~
The Sanskri/Hindu word "Ashram" translates into 'Forest Academy." Traditionally, Hindu Ashrams are quiet, often monastic, enviornments where interested parties come to help, to intiamately learn from a teacher and particpate in various Hindu rituals. Dharma Yoga Ashram is located in a quiet section of the village of Barnegat, NJ. The modest historic building first served as a one-room school house some 125 years ago. Later, the building was added onto and served for years as a Church. Now, the Ashram serves as a home for the teacher as well as providing a place for intimate instruction and participation in the Hindu/Yogic Dharma.
~SERVICES~
PUJA and SATSANG every Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. Those attending the Puja may inquire about further teachings.
True to all religious/spiritual teachings, there is no charge. Donations are appropriate for all genuine religious/spiritual and in this case Hindu/Yoga classes. A donation does not mean the class is worth less but actually more. Donation is also appropriate so that true religious/spiritual (Hindu/Yogic) teachings are always "affordable" to all.
For those who desire an in-depth training in Classical Yoga/Hinduism, there are three progressive courses that the student may choose to follow. Each course takes a minimum of one-to-two years to complete.
In the first course, The Eternal Journey: A Guide To Enlightenment, the student gains the all-important spiritual/religious foundation in general as well as a solid understanding of the Hindu religion and its many Yoga practices. The student learns all about Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Raja Yoga and Jnana Yoga. This course could be likened to the High School experience.
In the second course, Sanatana Dharma/Hinduism: The Religion of Yoga, the student advances to the University level and obtains a detailed knowledge (along with the all-important spiritual/religious experiences) of the Hindu/Yogic religion. (During or after this course, those who are not Hindus and desire to become Hindus are given this most blessed opportunity. At this point, one may also be given the opportunity to teach, at a beginning level, various aspects of Hinduism/Yoga.)
The third course is a Master's Degree in the Yoga Sutras and is only open to members of the Hindu religion. The Hindu chela is led sutra-by-sutra into the knowledge and experience of the Yoga Darsana.
*Of course since all aspects of Yoga/Hinduism are religious/spiritual, there is no charge for Hindu/Yoga classes or courses–this is an essential element to the spirit of all authentic religious/spiritual teachings. Your tax-deductible Donations are welcome–this is how all true religious/spiritual traditions continue their public service.
*CORRESPONDENCE COURSE*
Since not all students are able to study intimately, Swami offers the above courses in correspondence form.
